Ashby has to give a testimony to the GC Parliament. Pepper, Jenks’ friend who found the body kit, takes Lovey so Jenks isn’t as affected. Corbin takes matters into his own hands and gives Ohan the cure. Jenks flees in an escape pod and has to be chased down. The Wayfarer is attacked once more just as it’s making a punch. On Hedra Ka, the Wayfarer’s destination, some Toremi don’t agree with the decision to join the Galactic Common. They also provide a cure for Ohan though he refuses it. The ship needs some repairs and they land on a rogue planet inhabited by Solitary Sianats who have removed the virus (that made them super smart–though they’re still super smart, they’ve just found a way to turn off the virus’ annoying features) from themselves. Rosemary finds a legal loophole which involves Sissix being Corbin’s “sponsor.” Jenks and Lovey rethink the body kit after seeing Corbin’s maltreatment. Corbin is revealed to be a clone and taken into custody. In Quelin space, the ship is randomly inspected.
Rosemary sees Sissix’s interactions with her family (the Aandrisk are very physical) and accepts and professes her attraction to Sissix. They could to Hashkath, Sissix’s birthplace (home to the Aandrisk). The Wayfarer gets a distress call from Pei’s ship and docks with it. Chef who tells her about his race’s history and how they drove themselves to near extinction. There’s news of a Martian businessman and this is where Rosemary reveals the truth about her past to Jenks. The crew travels to Cricket to meet Kizzy’s friends who build a defensive shield around the Wayfarer. Jenks gets a letter saying a body kit has been obtained. Chef reveals Ohan is dying and will be useless. The ship is raided by Akaraks and Rosemary manages to communicate with them and come to an agreement. Ashby meets his lover Pei who is an Aeluon. The crew stops at Port Coriol to pick up some things. Ashby is offered a job to punch a new tunnel to a new member species’ area. Jenks is in love with Lovey and they discuss getting a body kit for her.
It’s later revealed she is the daughter of a businessman on Mars who sold weapons illegally. Rosemary had escaped from home and forged a new identity for herself. There’s also Artis Corbin who’s the algaeist. Chef is the doctor and chef, Ohan is the navigator (a Sianat Pair and uses they/them), Kizzy Shao and Jenks are the techs and Lovey is the ship’s AI. Ashby Santoso is the captain, Sissix is the pilot, Dr. Rosemary Harper arrives at the Wayfarer as the new clerk. Life is chaotic but we learn that the Wayfarer should be renamed the Friend Ship as the crew goes on adventures and learn to be kind to each other. Newbie Rosemary Harper has been hired as the ship and meets the eccentric bunch. The motley crew on the Wayfarer are hired to punch a hole in space.
